Now more than ever, there is a need for greater understanding of the faith of Muslims and practice of Islam in America. Tolerance is the cornerstone of understanding and of appreciating differences in our communities.

Most Americans receive their knowledge about Islam and Muslims from the media. Yet, how many of us are fully aware of the media’s sometimes negative and stereotypical portrayal of minorities? Accurate knowledge about other cultures and religions is key to promoting tolerance to fostering meaningful relationships. The Kentucky Islamic Resource Group (KYIRG) is helping communities to bridge the gap.
